West Pokot County

West Pokot County is one of the 14 counties of the Rift Valley region (formerly Rift Valley province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former West Pokot District in Rift Valley Province. Size wise it is the 16th largest county, covering an area of 8,420 km2 and the 38th in terms of population with 512,700 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Turkan County to the north, Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo Marakwet County to the south, Uganda to the west and Turkana to the east.

West Pokot County has 4 Constituencies,  Kapenguria, Sigor, Kacheliba, and Pokot South.

The County headquarters of West Pokot is Kapenguria Town.
