Vihiga County

Vihiga County is one of the 4 counties of the Western region (formerly Western province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Vihiga District in Western Province. Size wise it is the second smallest largest county, covering an area of 530 km2 and the 35th in terms of population with 554,700 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Kakamega County to the north, Kisumu County to the south, Siaya to the west and Nandi to the east.

Vihiga County has 5 Constituencies,  Vihiga, Sabatia, Hamisi, Luanda, and Emuhaya.

The County headquarters of Vihiga is Vihiga Town.
