Turkana County

Turkana County is one of the 14 counties of the Rift Valley region (formerly Rift Valley province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Turkana District in Rift Valley Province. Size wise it is the largest county, covering an area of 71,600 km2 and the 19th in terms of population with 855,400 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Ethiopia and Sudan County to the north, Baringo County to the south, Uganda to the west and Lake Turkana and Samburu to the east.

Turkana County has 6 Constituencies,  Turkana North, Turkana West, Turkana Central, Loima, Turkana South, and Turkana East.

The County headquarters of Turkana is Lodwar Town.
