Mandera County

Mandera County is one of the 3 counties of the North Eastern region (formerly North Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Mandera District in North Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 6th largest county, covering an area of 25,800 km2 and the 10th in terms of population with 1,025,800 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Ethiopia County to the north, Wajir County to the south, Wajir to the west and Somalia to the east.

Mandera County has 6 Constituencies,  Mandera West, Banissa, Mandera North, Mandera South, Mandera East, and Lafey.

The County headquarters of Mandera is Mandera Town.
