Makueni County

Makueni County is one of the 8 counties of the Eastern region (formerly Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Makueni District in Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 18th largest county, covering an area of 8,010 km2 and the 18th in terms of population with 884,600 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Machakos County to the north, Taita-Taveta County to the south, Kajiado to the west and Kitui to the east.

Makueni County has 6 Constituencies,  Mbooni, Kilome, Kaiti, Makueni, Kibwezi West, and Kibwezi East.

The County headquarters of Makueni is Wote Town.
