Kiambu County

Kiambu County is one of the 5 counties of the Central region (formerly Central province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Kiambu District in Central Province. Size wise it is the 34th largest county, covering an area of 2,450 km2 and the 3rd in terms of population with 1,623,300 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Nyandarua and Murang’a County to the north, Nariobi and Kajiado County to the south, Nakuru to the west and Machakos and Murang’a to the east.

Kiambu County has 12 Constituencies,  Gatundu South, Gatundu North, Juja, Thika Town, Ruiru, Githunguri, Kiambu, Kiambaa, Kabete, Kikuyu, Limuru, and Lari.

The County headquarters of Kiambu is Kiambu Town.
