Garissa County

Garissa County is one of the 3 counties of the North Eastern region (formerly North Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Garissa District in North Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 4th largest county, covering an area of 45,720 km2 and the 31st in terms of population with 623,100 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Wajir County to the north, Lamu County to the south, Tana River to the west and Somalia to the east.

Garissa County has 6 Constituencies,  Garissa Township (formerly Dujis Constituency), Balambala, Lagdera, Dadaab, Fafi, and Ijara.

The County headquarters of Garissa is Garissa Town.
