Wajir County
Wajir County is one of the 3 counties of the North Eastern region (formerly North Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Wajir District in North Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 3rd largest county, covering an area of 55,840 km2 and the 29th in terms of population with 662,000 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders Mandera County to the north, Garissa County to the south, Marsabit and Isiolo to the west and Somalia to the east.
Wajir County has 6 Constituencies, Wajir North, Wajir East, Tarbaj, Wajir West, Eldas, and Wajir South.
The County headquarters of Wajir is Wajir Town.
