Tharaka-Nithi County
Tharaka-Nithi County is one of the 8 counties of the Eastern region (formerly Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Tharaka-Nithi District in Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 35th largest county, covering an area of 2,410 km2 and the 41st in terms of population with 365,400 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders Meru County to the north, Kitui County to the south, Embu to the west and Kitui to the east.
Tharaka-Nithi County has 3 Constituencies, Maara, Chuka/Igambang’ombe, and Tharaka.
The County headquarters of Tharaka-Nithi is Kathwana Town.
