Murang’a County
Murang’a County is one of the 5 counties of the Central region (formerly Central province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Murang’a District in Central Province. Size wise it is the 37th largest county, covering an area of 2,325 km2 and the 14th in terms of population with 942,600 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders Nyeri County to the north, Kiambu County to the south, Nyandarua to the west and Machakos to the east.
Murang’a County has 7 Constituencies, Kangema, Mathioya, Kiharu, Kigumo, Maragwa, Kandara, and Gatanga.
The County headquarters of Murang’a is Murang’a Town.
