Meru County

Meru County is one of the 8 counties of the Eastern region (formerly Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Meru District in Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 20th largest county, covering an area of 6,930 km2 and the 6th in terms of population with 1356,400 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.

The county borders Isiolo(Samburu) County to the north, Tharaka County to the south, Laikipia to the west and Isiolo to the east.

Meru County has 9 Constituencies,  Igembe South, Igembe Central, Igembe North, Tigania West, Tigania East, North Imenti, Buuri, Central Imenti, and South Imenti.

The County headquarters of Meru is Meru Town.
