Kisumu County
Kisumu County is one of the 6 counties of the Nyanza region (formerly Nyanza province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Kisumu District in Nyanza Province. Size wise it is the 39th largest county, covering an area of 2,010 km2 and the 12th in terms of population with 969,000 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders Vihiga and Nandi County to the north, Homabay and Nyamira County to the south, Lake Victoria to the west and Kericho to the east.
Kisumu County has 7 Constituencies, Kisumu East, Kisumu West, Kisumu Central, Seme, Nyando, Muhoroni, and Nyakach.
The County headquarters of Kisumu is Kisumu(City) Town.
