Kirinyaga County
Kirinyaga County is one of the 5 counties of the Central region (formerly Central province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Kirinyaga District in Central Province. Size wise it is the 43rd largest county, covering an area of 1,205 km2 and the 36th in terms of population with 528,100 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders Meru County to the north, Embu County to the south, Nyeri to the west and Embu to the east.
Kirinyaga County has 4 Constituencies, Mwea, Gichugu, Ndia, and Kirinyaga Central.
The County headquarters of Kirinyaga is Kutus Town.
