Embu County
Embu County is one of the 8 counties of the Eastern region (formerly Eastern province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Embu District in Eastern Province. Size wise it is the 30th largest county, covering an area of 2,560 km2 and the 37th in terms of population with 516,300 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders Tharaka County to the north, Machakos County to the south, Kirinyaga to the west and — to the east.
Embu County has 4 Constituencies, Manyatta, Runyenjes, Mbeere South, and Mbeere North.
The County headquarters of Embu is Embu Town.
