Elgeyo-Marakwet County
Elgeyo-Marakwet County is one of the 14 counties of the Rift Valley region (formerly Rift Valley province) and is one of the 47 counties of Kenya that were created by the 2010 constitution. It was curved out of the former Elgeyo-Marakwet District in Rift Valley Province. Size wise it is the 25th largest county, covering an area of 3,050 km2 and the 40th in terms of population with 370,000 inhabitants as per the 2009 population census.
The county borders West Pokot County to the north, Baringo County to the south, Tranz Nzoia and Uasin Gishu to the west and Baringo to the east.
Elgeyo-Marakwet County has 4 Constituencies, Marakwet East, Marakwet West, Keiyo North, and Keiyo South.
The County headquarters of Elgeyo-Marakwet is Iten Town.
