The Eastern Province (Kiswahili: Mkoa wa Mashariki) of Kenya was one of 8 Provinces of Kenya before the 2010 constitution did away with provinces and organised the country in 47 counties. Its neighbours were Ethiopia country to the north, the North Eastern Province to the east and Coast Province south, Central Province the western border. The provincial headquarters was Embu.
Marsabit, Isiolo, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui, Machakos and later Makueni
