Details: Kasarani Aquatic Stadium in Moi International Sports Complex is the epitome of swimming pool finesse in Kenya.   It is found off Thika Road about 12km from the city centre in the Kasarani area of Nairobi. There are four swimming pools in the establishment; three Olympic standard and one baby pool.

The pools are very well maintained especially considering the numbers that throng this place and the pricing is fair. During the cold weather of July, the pools are heated to 29ºC. The rest of the year the temperature is left to the weather. This makes for very comfortable swimming all year round.

There are lifeguards all around the pools so it is safe. They have swimming costume restrictions, you shouldn’t wear a cotton-based costume.

Pool 1 – Olympic Long course.

The 50mx21m has 8 lanes.  It is fitted with all the facilities for an Olympic-class competition.  This is the ideal pool to perfect your swimming technique.

Access to the pool is guided by the attendants on-site.

Pool 2 – Olympic short course.

Outdoor, temperature-controlled, 25mx13m long. is designed as a warm-up pool for competitors. The third one is fitted with diving boards at various heights.

Pool 3 – Irregular, temperature-controlled.

This fun pool is reserved for flutter kicks, kids ages 7 to 10.

Pool 4 – Diving well 20mx20m

This diving well is equipped with two 1m and two 3m springboards and a diving tower with take‑off platforms at 5m, 7.5m and 10m.  The depth of the well is 5m. Also favourable for those who enjoy diving from different heights.

Bathrooms definitely needed attention but were no different than other pools we have been to.

This temperature-controlled (heated swimming pool) is located on the sundeck of the Hilton Hotel, Nairobi. The Hilton Hotel Swimming pool is run as part of the amenities of the Hilton Hotel spa. The outdoor swimming pool is clean and spacious and the temperature is maintained at 28ºC. It can be pushed to 30º in particularly cold weather.

For the price of swimming, they provide soap, towels and lotion. The fee also gives you access to the gym and sauna and a personal trainer. You can also subscribe to the health club at sh2300 monthly or sh135000 per year.
