Outdoors in Kenya

“Everybody’s talking about people breaking into houses but there are more people in the world who want to break out of houses.” -Thornton Wilder, writer (17 Apr 1897-1975)

I am sure Thornton was onto something. There are many people who want to get out of the house for a bit of fresh air or adventure.  Unfortunately deciding where to go is not always easy. But that is only part of the problem.  Knowing how to get there is a whole different kettle of fish.

That is why we put together this site. We not only tell you where to go, but we also offer tips on how to get there and what to expect once you get to your outdoor destination in Kenya.

The good news is that Kenya has a wide variety of activities one can do outdoors. And the activities are not just wide in scope, they are also wide in the level of difficulty, bodily involvement and intensity.  There are attractions for the sportive kind looking for extremely challenging outdoor adventure and luxury safaris for those seeking less vigorous and a lot more in between. Besides, Kenya is endowed with fine weather all year round. Be it backpacking, riverine walks, undulating hills, horseback rides, sunrises and sunset, bird–watching, swimming, nature walks, cycling, game drives or wilderness trekking, sandy beaches, the beauty of landscapes, birds, plants, and fascinating cultures  Kenya has it all.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast or need an occasional one-off outdoor excursion for a new experience, this website will guide you on how to get there. You will find one-day excursions, longer excursions that may require you to camp or get a hotel/lodge and mostly budget travels.

Where the government offers the services, they are pretty affordable. Moreover, you don’t need to wait until you can make a large group of friends. There are many groups organising scheduled excursions around the country. You only need to search online and join in but read the reviews of those who have used them.

But don’t take my word for it. Visit the places and try them out. In case your fancy is not on our list, feel free to send us a word by leaving a comment and we shall do research for you.

Bon voyage!
